Moonstruck: Love, Death and the Destiny of Desire

Moonstruck is an endearing film about love and triangles, including the universal triangle of the relationship one has with Love and Death.

This presentation will focus on how the characters and plot depict various important aspects of this core human experience.

Learning Goals and Objectives

Participants will be able to:

1) Become acquainted with one model for understanding, through film, the fate of the desire for love versus disappointment and the importance of both.

2) Understand one psychodynamic model of the "limits of love".

3) Engage the contrast between "perverse solutions" to these issues versus more "mature" ones.


Dr. Cynthia Kampschaefer is a psychologist and psychoanalyst in part time private practice in Oklahoma City who has presented numerous films for OSPS.

Dr. Michael Kampschaefer is a psychologist and psychoanalyst in private practice. He is a member of the International Psychoanalytic Association and is a Personal and Supervising Analyst for PINC, and a Personal Analyst/member of ICP.
